Western Suburbs
We started the day with another walk towards Brighton.
The main aim of my morning was to play croquet at the Hove lawns. Fortunately our host, Frances sister Maxine pointed out that they had changed venue from near the Council Chambers to a sports complex on the far side of Brighton Road. Apparently this happened about 30 years ago! Unfortunately the day was one where nothing went right for me, especially in my third game where both opponents were handicap 3 (I am officially handicap 11 but on this day played more like 25).
I then went to a couple of spots a little Northwards. The first was the inflow to the Patawalonga where there were a few interesting birds. I then went to what used to be called the Torrens Outlet Canal as it is a canalised section through which the River Torrens flows out to the sea. That is nowhere near sexy enough for marketing goons so it is now called Breakout Creek.
Whatever it is called it is now a building site. It appears that what they are trying to do is de-canalise the area by building a bunch of pools and side canals. I shall return to this later in this post.
I was pleased to get a good look at Musk Lorikeets on the riverbank. They were Bird of the Day.They were feeding on this eucalypt blossom.
A pair of Crested Pigeons were sort of making nice. This one was a somewhat unusual plumage with much darker than usual colouring. I wonder if this was some sort of breeding display.
Here is a more normal one, being pursued by the above.
Judging by the number of sheds in the camping area this is going to be a CFMEU legacy project.
This notice is basically full of it.
- the area the horses will end up with is 30% of what they used to have; and
- the consultation was basically the Minister of the time saying "That's what you're getting. If you don't like it we'll resume the lot."
A couple of sunset snaps.
Two beers. The Pirate Life IPA at 6.8% would have made it to Bombay ..
.. so I felt it needed an offset with this alcohol free sample (which was still pleasant tasting.
A few of the election posters around the area.
It seems that Nick Xenophon didn't organise things properly so his name didn't appear above the line!
No (close) relation to David Pocock but they will both be in the Senate after June!
